About this Course

The National Lifeguard Pool certification is designed to transform Bronze Medallion/Cross lifesaving skills into professional lifeguard values, judgement, knowledge, and fitness skills. This program is not subsidy eligible. The National Lifeguard course emphasizes aquatic industry standards, accident prevention, decision-making processes and rescue skills designed to prepare new lifeguards to safely supervise in swimming pool environments. This is a 44-hour course which requires study and assignment completion outside of class time. Manuals and lifeguard kits are included in the cost of the course. This course is worth 2 grade 12 high school credits. This program is not eligible for City subsidy. Prerequisites: Must be 16 years of age or older, hold a Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid Certificate.
